List of chemical companies in India: chemical manufacturers

The chemical hubs, the industry bodies, and ready lists of chemical makers.

What counts as a chemical company

A list of chemical companies in India covers far more than reactors and tank farms. Directories, ours included, usually group plastics and rubber processors with chemical makers, because they buy the same kinds of raw materials, packaging and plant equipment. Before you buy or build a list, decide which of these you sell to:

  • Bulk and commodity chemicals: acids, alkalis, solvents and basic intermediates, made in large volumes.
  • Specialty chemicals: dyes and pigments, textile auxiliaries, construction chemicals, water treatment chemicals and additives.
  • Agrochemicals: technical-grade pesticides and the formulators who pack them for farmers.
  • Plastics processors: moulders, pipe makers, film and packaging units, acrylic fabricators.
  • Rubber products: hoses, belts, footwear soles and moulded parts.
  • Chemical traders and distributors, who sell other companies' products from offices and godowns.

The chemical belts of Gujarat and Maharashtra

Much of India's chemical making sits in industrial estates along the west coast. In Gujarat, Vapi, Ankleshwar, Bharuch, Dahej and Vadodara host units of every size, from small dye makers to large plants. In Maharashtra, the Thane-Belapur belt and Tarapur are older chemical areas, while Mumbai holds head offices and trading firms. Plastics and rubber processors are spread more widely, with units in almost every industrial city.

This geography shapes how you sell. A drum maker in Bharuch can serve Ankleshwar and Dahej the same day, so it needs those estates in depth, not the whole country.

Official records behind a list of chemical companies in India

  • CHEMEXCIL, the export promotion council for basic chemicals, cosmetics and dyes, lists its member exporters.
  • Industrial estate associations in places like Vapi and Ankleshwar keep member lists, sometimes in printed directories.
  • State pollution control boards grant the consents a chemical unit needs to set up and run. Some boards publish these online, which tells you a plant exists and what it makes, but not who buys for it.
  • MCA and GST look-ups confirm a company's legal name, status and address, one company at a time.

Each source covers one slice. Exporters miss domestic-only firms, association lists miss units outside the estate, and none carries a purchase manager's mobile number.

Our chemical companies database: chemicals, plastics and rubber

The Chemicals, Plastics & Rubber list has 83,029 companies in 400 cities and towns. 77% of rows have a mobile number, 73% an email address and 79% a contact person, and 83% state what the company makes or trades, so you can split pigments from plastic pipes. Like any chemical manufacturers list, it mixes makers with traders and dealers, because many traders describe themselves as manufacturers; a short call settles which is which.

For a whole state there are state lists for 14 states, alongside 30 city lists. Each shows 60 sample rows and its rebuild month before you pay.

Who sells to chemical plants

  • Raw material traders and solvent recovery firms.
  • Packaging makers: MS and HDPE drums, IBC tanks, jumbo bags, carboys.
  • Process equipment: glass-lined and stainless steel reactors, heat exchangers, centrifuges, dryers, pumps and valves.
  • Effluent and waste: treatment plant builders, chemical dosing systems and authorised hazardous waste handlers.
  • Safety: protective equipment, gas detectors, fire systems and safety audits.
  • Utilities and logistics: boilers, thermic fluid heaters, tanker transport and hazardous cargo carriers.
  • Plastics and rubber machinery, moulds and dies, for the processors.

Many chemical makers also export; the exporters and importers guide covers that angle, and the pharma companies guide covers the drug makers many chemical firms supply.

A first call to a chemical buyer

  1. Know whether you want the plant or the office. Commercial terms are often settled at a Mumbai or Ahmedabad office; technical approval happens at the plant.
  2. Call mid-morning on a weekday, once the plant's day is under way, and keep the first call under two minutes.
  3. Lead with distance and specifics. For example: "Good morning, sir. I'm Karan from a Bharuch company that makes HDPE drums and IBC tanks. We deliver to Ankleshwar and Dahej the next day. Who buys packaging for your solvent despatches?"
  4. Send the papers they will ask for: technical data sheet, safety data sheet, certificate of analysis and a sample. Price is usually per kg or per unit, and buyers expect it to move with raw material costs.
  5. Settle the commercial terms in writing: minimum order, lead time, payment days, GST invoice and e-way bill.
