Auto parts, pharma and the Marathwada trade

Aurangabad, renamed Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in 2023, is the main industrial city of Marathwada. Job seekers who look for a list of companies in Aurangabad usually mean the big plants at Waluj and Shendra. Sellers need something else: the vendors, contractors, traders and service firms that grow up around those plants, most of them small and run by their owners.

Waluj: the MIDC area best known for Bajaj Auto's Waluj plant, and for the press shops, machine shops, moulders and fabricators that supply it and other vehicle makers.
Chikalthana: the MIDC area near the airport, with pharma and engineering units side by side.
Shendra and Bidkin: together they make up Auric City, the planned industrial township where newer and larger plants are coming up.
Pharma: drug makers in the MIDC areas, and the packaging, testing and engineering firms that keep them running.
Trade and services: showrooms, builders, clinics, coaching classes and consultants in Cidco and along Jalna Road, wholesale shops in the old city, and hotels and travel firms that look after visitors to the Ellora and Ajanta caves.

One naming trap: Bihar has an Aurangabad of its own. When you merge files or search online directories, check the state column as well as the city.

Public sources for Aurangabad firms

MIDC covers Waluj, Chikalthana and Shendra on its website with maps and plot information. The tenants, and their numbers, are not part of it.
CMIA (the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture) speaks for the region's established manufacturers and holds events where you can meet them. Ask whether outsiders can see its member directory.
MCA master data and the Udyam portal: MCA confirms a company's or LLP's status and directors; Udyam verifies an MSME registration number. Both work one firm at a time, and neither gives a phone number you can rely on.
The District Industries Centre is the place for questions on MSME schemes in the district, and its staff know which clusters are growing, though it does not share contact lists.

Approaching Aurangabad businesses

Pick the language from the first reply. Marathi is the first language of most shopkeepers and small manufacturers, Hindi and Urdu are widely spoken, especially in the old city, and plant managers and pharma staff work in English.
Get on the vendor list. The large plants buy through purchase departments and approved vendor lists, not one-off calls. Ask how their registration works; our vendor registration guide covers the documents most companies want.
Lead with what you can do, then ask for the right person. For example: "Namaskar, I run a heat-treatment shop in Waluj. We return case-hardening jobs in three days. Who in your purchase team handles outside processing?"
Mind the month-end. Auto vendors are often tied up with dispatches in the last days of the month. Call early in the month, and mid-morning rather than at shift change.
Plan the route. Waluj is on the road to Pune, south-west of the city; Chikalthana and Shendra lie east along Jalna Road; Bidkin is to the south, towards Paithan. One area a day is realistic.

Which MIDC areas does Aurangabad have?

The main ones are Waluj, Chikalthana and Shendra, with Bidkin joining Shendra as part of Auric City. Most of the auto vendors are at Waluj, while Chikalthana and Shendra mix pharma, engineering and newer plants.

Why do some addresses use the new name?

The city and the district were renamed in 2023. Some businesses have switched their letterheads and addresses, others still write Aurangabad. Our files keep the city under Aurangabad, but if you filter addresses yourself, search for both names.

Does the Aurangabad list include Jalna?

No. Jalna is a separate district, and our files follow the town written in each address. Jalna's businesses are in the statewide Maharashtra lists; sort them on the town column. For the bigger cities of the state, go straight to Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Nashik.
