Where Bangalore's factories are

Bangalore is known for software, but it is also one of India's larger manufacturing centres, and a search for manufacturing companies in Bangalore, or for a Dabaspet industrial area companies list, usually comes from someone who wants to sell to those plants. For the city's offices, markets and services, see our list of companies in Bangalore. The factories sit in industrial areas around the edge of the city, most of them developed by KIADB, the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board:

  • Peenya: in the north-west, one of the largest clusters of small and medium industry in the country, with machine shops, sheet metal and toolrooms, electrical panels, rubber and plastics, printing and garment units. KSSIDC, the state's small industries corporation, runs estates here alongside KIADB's phases.
  • Bommasandra and Jigani: in the south-east, off Hosur Road beyond Electronic City, with auto components, precision engineering, electronics, pharma and biotech units.
  • Dabaspet: further out on the Tumakuru road past Nelamangala, with larger plots used by engineering and processing plants and a growing number of warehouses along the highway.
  • Hoskote and Narasapura: to the east on the road to Kolar, where vehicle, two-wheeler and electronics assembly plants have drawn suppliers.
  • Bidadi and Harohalli: to the south-west and south, with the Toyota Kirloskar car plant at Bidadi and newer KIADB areas at Harohalli.
  • Inside the city: the public sector majors HAL, BEL and BEML, the export park at Whitefield, and older small-industry estates in Rajajinagar and Yeshwanthpur.

Across the state border, Hosur in Tamil Nadu, a short drive from Bommasandra and Attibele, has SIPCOT estates and large vehicle plants of its own, and many Bangalore suppliers serve both sides.

Free sources for Bangalore manufacturers, and their gaps

  • KIADB publishes its industrial areas and allotments, and KSSIDC lists its estates and sheds. They show where industry clusters, not who signs the purchase orders.
  • Trade bodies: KASSIA (the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association), FKCCI, the Peenya Industries Association and the associations of other estates run events and keep member directories, often for members only.
  • IMTEX, the machine tool exhibition held at BIEC on Tumakuru Road by the Bangalore-based Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association, is a good place to meet buyers in person. Its exhibitor list covers only firms that took a stall.
  • MCA master data, GST and Udyam confirm a firm's legal status, one name at a time. Karnataka GSTINs start with 29. Most Peenya units are proprietorships or partnerships, so MCA alone misses them.
  • The District Industries Centres around Bangalore handle MSME schemes and can name the active clusters, but keep no public call list.

Our list of manufacturing companies in Bangalore

The Manufacturing Companies in Bengaluru file holds 494 businesses filed under general manufacturing. 100% have a mobile number and 24% an email address, and 72% name a contact person. The list page shows 60 real rows and a free Excel sample, and the full list costs ₹499.

It is a short file, because most Bangalore units are listed under what they make: a toolroom under machinery, a foundry under steel and metals, a moulder under plastics. The trade lists below are much larger and cover Peenya and the other estates in depth.

Few rows here carry a full address or PIN code, so ask which industrial area the unit is in on the first call and note it in your sheet.

Bangalore lists by trade

Machinery makers, electrical and electronics manufacturers, steel and metal firms, chemical and plastics units, packaging firms and fabricators, each as a separate list:

For the whole country, the All-India list has 3,147. Every other list for the city is on the Bengaluru page.

Who sells to Bangalore's manufacturers

  • Steel, aluminium, copper and polymer dealers for the machine shops, sheet metal and moulding units of Peenya and Bommasandra.
  • Machine tool, cutting tool and CNC spares dealers, and calibration labs, for precision shops that work for aerospace, defence and machine builders.
  • Electronic component distributors and testing firms for electronics assembly in Whitefield and the eastern belt.
  • Heat treatment, plating, anodising and powder coating job workers.
  • Packaging, transport and warehousing firms along the Tumakuru and Hosur roads.
  • Contract staffing, canteen and staff bus operators, rooftop solar installers, and banks and CA firms working with MSMEs.

Builders and contractors are a separate market here; our guide to construction companies in Bangalore covers them, and manufacturing companies in Pune covers Chakan, Bhosari and the other MIDC belts.

Selling to Bangalore plants

  1. Plan by direction. Peenya and Dabaspet lie to the north-west, Bommasandra and Jigani to the south-east, Hoskote and Narasapura to the east. Crossing the city in a working day wastes most of it, so take one side at a time.
  2. Know whom to ask. In Peenya the owner usually buys. Larger plants have purchase teams and vendor registration, and the public sector units buy from registered vendors through tenders and GeM. Our vendor registration guide explains the route.
  3. Speak the shop's language. Kannada opens doors with local owners, Tamil and Telugu are common towards Hosur Road and Anekal, shop floors often run in Hindi, and purchase teams use English. A plain opener: "Namaskara, this is Ravi from a heat treatment shop in Peenya. We harden gears and shafts for a few machine builders here, with pickup from your gate. Who handles outsourced processes at your unit?"
  4. Bring proof. Test reports, ISO certificates, AS9100 for aerospace work, and a reference from a unit nearby count for more than a brochure.
  5. Follow the rules. Check numbers against the DND rules before promotional calls or SMS.

Questions people ask

Which companies are in Dabaspet industrial area?

Dabaspet, on the Tumakuru road north-west of the city, holds a mix of engineering and processing plants and warehouses that use the highway. KIADB's records name the original allottees; who runs each plot today is best confirmed by a call or a visit.

Is Peenya the biggest industrial area in Bangalore?

By number of units, yes. Peenya's phases and estates hold thousands of small and medium firms, far more than any other part of the city. Newer KIADB areas such as Dabaspet and Narasapura have fewer, bigger plants.

How many manufacturing companies are there in Bangalore?

No register gives one figure, because most small units are proprietorships that never appear in company records. Our general manufacturing file has 494 businesses, and the trade lists above add many more units filed under what they make.
