Manufacturing companies list in India: manufacturers database

The manufacturing hubs, the official sources, and a ready manufacturers database by industry and city.

Manufacturing is many industries, not one

A list of manufacturing companies in India sounds like one thing, but a cycle-parts forging shop in Ludhiana, a pigment maker in Vapi and a tile plant in Morbi have almost nothing in common as customers. Each buys different raw materials, machines and services, and each is run by different people. So the useful question is not "where do I get every manufacturer?" but "which kind of factory buys what I sell, and in which towns?"

The main branches, and some of the places they cluster:

  • Vehicles and auto components: Pune and Chakan, Chennai and Sriperumbudur, and Manesar and Faridabad near Delhi.
  • Engineering, pumps and motors: Rajkot for engineering goods and machine tools, Coimbatore for pumps and motors.
  • Chemicals, plastics and pigments: the Gujarat belt of Vapi, Ankleshwar, Dahej, Bharuch and Vadodara, and Thane-Belapur and Tarapur in Maharashtra.
  • Metal goods and ceramics: Jamnagar for brass parts, Moradabad for brassware, Aligarh for locks, Morbi for tiles, plus the steel towns in our guide to steel makers and metal traders.
  • Textiles, food processing, packaging and electricals, spread across almost every state.

Most are small and medium units where the owner still signs every purchase order.

Where to get a list of manufacturing companies in India for free

Several public sources hold manufacturers. Each is good for one job and weak at another.

  • MCA company master data. Free on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs portal for any company or LLP: CIN, status, registered office and directors. One company at a time, the registered office may not be the factory, and there is no phone number.
  • GST taxpayer search. Enter a GSTIN or PAN to see the legal name, trade name, status and address. Good for checking a firm before you give credit, no help in finding new ones.
  • Udyam portal. Verifies an MSME's Udyam registration number. It is not a directory you can browse.
  • Industrial estate associations. Associations in MIDC areas in Maharashtra or GIDC estates in Gujarat sometimes print member directories with phone numbers. They are local and may be years old.
  • Export promotion councils. EEPC for engineering goods and CHEMEXCIL for chemicals represent exporters, a small slice of manufacturing.
  • B2B marketplaces and trade fairs. Firms list themselves there to find buyers, so they answer enquiries quickly and sales pitches slowly.

None of these gives you a sortable sheet of factories by product and town with a mobile number for the person who decides. That is the gap a ready list fills. To check a single company properly, our guide to free company look-ups walks through MCA, GST, IEC and Udyam.

Our manufacturers database and the industry lists beside it

Our Manufacturing Companies list holds 3,147 firms that describe themselves simply as manufacturers, in 22 cities across 9 states. Nearly all come with a mobile number in +91 format, 77% with a contact person's name and 17% with an email address. The most rows are in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Pune.

Manufacturers by industry

Most sellers need only one branch of manufacturing. Each row is the All-India list for one industry:

Manufacturers by city

By product

To put, say, chemical makers in Vadodara and Surat in the same file as packaging firms in Pune, use the list builder. Every list lets you open 60 real contacts before you pay.

Who uses a manufacturers list

A manufacturers list pays off when you sell something factories buy again and again:

  • Raw material suppliers: steel stockists, polymer granule traders, chemical distributors and pigment dealers looking for new consuming units.
  • Consumables and maintenance: cutting tools, abrasives, lubricants, hydraulic hoses, bearings, safety shoes and gloves. These sell on quick delivery more than on price.
  • Machinery dealers and service firms: CNC machines, compressors, DG sets, annual maintenance contracts and calibration labs.
  • Packaging: corrugated boxes, stretch film, pallets and labels, which almost every plant that ships goods needs.
  • Services: ERP and accounting software, GST and compliance help from CA firms, contract staffing for the shop floor, and rooftop solar for plants with high power bills.

Getting a factory to try you as a supplier

  1. Find the person who decides. In a unit of 20 to 50 people it is the owner. In a bigger plant it is the purchase manager for materials and the maintenance head for spares and services. Our guide on reaching purchase managers covers the larger firms.
  2. Lead with the problem you remove. A line such as "We keep hydraulic hoses in stock for press shops in Chakan and deliver the same day. Who handles breakdown purchases at your plant?" gets you a name. A brochure does not.
  3. Call at the right hour. Owners walk the shop floor first thing and chase dispatches late in the day, so late morning, roughly 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., works best. Many industrial areas take their weekly off on a weekday instead of Sunday, so note each firm's day.
  4. Expect these questions: your rate against their current supplier's, credit days, delivery time, test certificates, and whether you will send a sample or trial lot.
  5. Get on the vendor list. Keep your GST certificate, PAN, Udyam certificate, a cancelled cheque and a one-page profile ready. Our vendor registration guide lists what bigger buyers ask for.

A mobile number used for business can be on the DND register too, so read our DND guide before a calling or SMS campaign.

Common questions about manufacturer lists

Is there a manufacturers database by product?

Yes: start from the industry lists above, such as machinery, steel, chemicals or packaging, then sort by the category column. That works better than one general list, because a firm selling packaging and one selling machine spares need different factories.

Is there one government list of all manufacturers?

No. MCA covers companies and LLPs of every kind, GST covers every registered business and Udyam covers registered MSMEs. None of them is a public, downloadable directory of factories with phone numbers, though each lets you check a single firm.

Can I get manufacturers of one product in one city?

Often, yes. Open the industry list, filter the category column and then the city. If nothing fits, request a custom list and tell us the product and towns you need.

Will every row be a manufacturer?

No list can promise that. Many Indian firms both make and trade, and describe themselves both ways. Check the category column and the free sample, and call a few rows before planning a campaign.
