A hotels directory for suppliers, not for travellers
This guide is for businesses that sell to hotels. If you want a room, a booking site will serve you better. A hotels directory built for sales lists each property with an owner's or manager's contact, so that a towel mill, a software company or a tour operator can reach the person who buys. The properties fall into a few groups:
- Chain and branded hotels: owned, managed or franchised by hotel groups. Brand standards fix much of what they buy.
- Independent business hotels: a few dozen rooms near railway stations, industrial areas and airports, run by the owner or a general manager.
- Resorts: in Goa, Kerala, the hill stations and near wildlife parks, buying in the weeks before the season.
- Heritage properties: havelis and palaces, many of them in Rajasthan.
- Budget hotels, lodges, guest houses, hostels and paying guest homes: small, family-run and price-led.
- Banquet halls and wedding venues, inside hotels or on their own.
How hotels are classified, and what that tells a supplier
The Ministry of Tourism classifies hotels by star category, from one star up to five star deluxe, with separate heritage categories. Classification is voluntary, so many well-run hotels have no star rating at all. A star rating tells you the standard a property aims for, and so which linen, toiletries or software suits it. It does not tell you who orders them, which is the gap a hotels database fills.
Other places to look each give part of the picture:
- State tourism departments run their own registration schemes for homestays and bed-and-breakfast units.
- FSSAI. A hotel with a kitchen holds a food licence, which you can check by number on FoSCoS.
- FHRAI and its four regional associations represent hotels and restaurants, and their conventions draw owners and general managers.
- Booking sites show rooms, ratings and the locality, but every enquiry goes through the platform.
- Hotel websites list the reservations number, which reaches the front desk, not the purchase office.
Who buys what inside a hotel
- Owner or general manager: renovations, software, big contracts and anything new.
- Purchase or stores manager: day-to-day supplies, usually against quotations from several vendors.
- Executive housekeeper: linen, towels, guest amenities, cleaning chemicals and laundry.
- Executive chef and food and beverage manager: kitchen equipment, crockery and ingredients.
- Chief engineer: air conditioning, water treatment, solar water heating, generators and lifts.
- Front office and sales: property management and channel manager software, and rate contracts with travel agents and companies.
In a 30-room hotel one person may hold three of these jobs. Good hotels data tells you the type and size of a property so you can guess which.
Our hotels database: hotel and resort contacts
The Hotels & Resorts list covers 1,26,397 hotels, resorts, guest houses and lodges in 304 cities and towns. 95% have a mobile number and 69% a contact person. 88% have an email address, so the same list works for an email campaign as well as calls. 97% are tagged by type, such as hotel, resort or guest house. Before buying, the list page shows 60 sample properties and the month the list was rebuilt. City and state editions exist too: 28 cities and 20 states.

Selling to hotels: a short playbook
Typical buyers of a hotel list are linen and towel makers (Panipat is a centre for home textiles), toiletry and amenity makers, software firms selling property management systems, laundry and housekeeping chemical suppliers, furniture makers, and the travel trade: tour operators and destination companies that contract rooms for their groups, the same firms our travel agents guide describes. Restaurant suppliers often sell to hotel kitchens too, as our restaurants and cafes guide explains.
- Match the product to the property. A channel manager for a 12-room guest house in Manali is a different sale from one for a 200-room city hotel.
- Pick the time. Weekday afternoons, roughly 3 to 5 pm, once checkouts and the lunch service are done, usually work best. Avoid weekends and long weekends. For seasonal resorts, call a month or two before the season opens, when owners are refitting.
- Ask for the right desk. For example: "Good afternoon, I'm calling from a towel mill in Panipat. We weave the hotel's name into bath and hand towels for business hotels in Jaipur and Udaipur. Could you put me through to your housekeeping head?"
- Expect to be asked for a sample, the price per piece, weight and wash life, minimum order, delivery time, credit period, a GST invoice and the names of hotels you already supply.
- Follow up in writing with photos and a quotation. Our cold email templates help with the first message.
Questions hotel suppliers ask
Can I use this list to book a hotel or compare room rates?
No. It is a B2B contact list for selling to hotels, and the numbers reach owners and managers, not reservations. Book rooms through the hotel or a booking site.
Can I filter by star rating?
Star category is not a field we can promise, since many hotels are not classified. Filter by type and city instead, then check the rating on the property's own website for the ones you shortlist.
How do I get into a hotel chain?
Chains usually buy through a central procurement team and an approved vendor list. A local general manager can tell you whom to write to, and our guide to vendor registration covers the documents they will want.
