India business directory: all-India business database
What an all-India business database contains, and how it differs from directory websites.

What an India business directory is for
An India business directory, in the sense this guide uses, is one database of businesses of every kind across the country: kirana shops and wholesalers, clinics and CA firms, workshops and factories, schools and hotels. It suits sellers whose product almost any business can use, such as UPI soundboxes and current accounts, billing software, signboards, CCTV, insurance, business loans, courier pickups and websites.
If you sell to one trade, such as dentists or exporters, an industry list fits better and costs you fewer wasted calls. A directory is for reaching every business in a place, or for working out where the businesses are before you plan anything else.
Directory websites or a database you download?
Both get called a business directory, but they are built for different jobs:
- Local search sites and map listings help a customer find one plumber or one pharmacy near them, with reviews and a call button. They are good for checking a single business. Building a sheet of thousands from them means copying listings one at a time, and bulk copying breaks most sites' terms.
- B2B marketplaces are catalogues where suppliers list products and buyers post requirements. They suit buying and selling goods, and the seller pays for visibility or enquiries. They show suppliers, not every business in a town.
- A downloadable database puts every business of a place in one Excel file with its own columns for mobile, email, city, area and PIN code. You can sort it, count it, split it between salespeople and remove the businesses you already serve.
If what you want is to get your own business listed, our guide to business directory sites covers where to list and how. For the official registers of companies, GST and Udyam, and what each leaves out, see our list of companies in India guide.
Our all India business database
Our business directory holds 78,49,029 businesses in 11,885 cities, towns and localities across 36 states and union territories. 89% have a mobile number and 49% an email address. It is sold state by state and city by city rather than as one all-India file, and every list page shows 60 real rows before you buy. To reach one trade across the whole country, our bulk data lists give each industry for all of India in one file.
One state at a time
Most teams work one state or one city. The directory is sold separately for 34 states and 253 cities, each for ₹499. The biggest states:

Reading the columns before you plan
A directory is only as useful as the columns you can rely on. Check the share filled for each field on the list page, then plan around the strong ones:
- Mobile number: your main channel, present on 89% of rows. Numbers are cleaned, de-duplicated and in +91 format, ready for a dialler.
- Email address: on about 49% of rows, so treat email as a second channel, not the first.
- Contact name: given on 40% of rows. Where it is missing, ask for "the owner" or "whoever handles purchases".
- Address and PIN code: 83% of rows carry a PIN code, which is what lets you plan by area, sort beats for field staff, or post a printed catalogue.
- Website: only 22% list one, which is itself a lead for anyone selling websites and online listings.
People searching for an Indian companies database often expect a trade on every row. This directory mostly does not say what each business does, so for one trade use an industry list, or combine trades and places in one file with the list builder.
Four ways businesses use a national directory
- Drawing sales beats. A payments company opening in Lucknow counts businesses by PIN code and gives each field executive a set of neighbouring codes with roughly equal numbers, instead of guessing from a map.
- Choosing the next towns. A billing software firm in Coimbatore compares the number of businesses in the towns of Tamil Nadu and Kerala before deciding where to hire its next two salespeople.
- Finding businesses with no website. A web studio in Kochi keeps rows with a mobile number and no website, then offers a simple site and a Google Business Profile, starting with clinics and shops in its own district.
- Posting a catalogue. A signboard and printing firm in Indore sends a printed rate card to every business in three market areas, then calls a week later. Post reaches businesses that never answer an unknown number.
Whatever the use, remove numbers on the DND register before promotional calls or SMS (our DND guide shows how), say who you are, and stop contacting anyone who asks you to.
Questions about all-India business data
Can I download an all India database for free?
Not a complete one with phone numbers. The government portals show one record at a time, and directory sites are built for single searches. Any paid list should show real sample rows first; our checklist for choosing a data provider lists what else to ask.
Does the directory include every business in India?
No directory does. Many small shops and workshops are not listed anywhere, and businesses open and close every month. Treat any directory as a large sample of active businesses, and check the month it was rebuilt, which every list page shows.
Can I buy just my own state?
Yes. The directory is sold for 34 states and 253 cities as well as all of India. If your town is missing, request a custom list.
