What Mysore's businesses make, sell and serve

Ask around for a list of companies in Mysore and most people will name the software campuses and a few large factories, because that is what job seekers look for. If you sell to businesses, the city looks different. Mysuru, to use its official name, is mostly small firms run by their owners: workshops in the industrial areas, family trades in the old city, plus plenty of clinics, hotels and shops that live off residents, students and visitors.

  • Industrial areas: KIADB's Hebbal, Metagalli, Hootagalli and Belagola industrial areas hold factories and workshops of every size, and more plants sit around Nanjangud, a short drive south of the city.
  • Silk, sandalwood and incense: Mysore silk sarees, sandalwood products and agarbatti are the city's old trades. Incense making runs from home-based rolling to established brands sold all over India.
  • Software: IT service and software firms of all sizes, and the large training campus Infosys runs in the city.
  • Tourism: hotels, lodges, travel agents, taxi operators and handicraft shops that serve a steady flow of visitors.
  • Everyday services: doctors, schools, coaching centres, builders, bakeries and electronics shops spread across the residential layouts.

One local trap: Hebbal here is Mysuru's industrial area, not the Bengaluru locality of the same name. If you merge files from both cities, check the city column before you book a visit.

Free sources in Mysuru and their blind spots

  • KIADB, the state board that develops industrial land in Karnataka, shows its layouts and plot allotments. That tells you where the units are, not who runs them or how to call.
  • MCA master data shows who the directors of a registered company or LLP are, with its status and registered office, searched firm by firm. Silk weavers, agarbatti units and most shops are run as proprietorships or partnerships, so they are missing.
  • The District Industries Centre handles MSME schemes and subsidies for Mysuru district. Staff there know which clusters are busy; they do not give out contact lists.
  • Chambers and industry associations, local and statewide, keep member directories. Most are printed for members, and few are current.
  • The Ministry of Tourism's approval scheme names travel agents and tour operators who chose to apply, which leaves out most small operators in a tourist city.

A list of companies in Mysore you can sort and filter

Our widest file is the Mysuru Business Directory, with 31,026 businesses across every trade in the city. 99% have a mobile number on record and 36% an email address. The street address is filled in for 96%. The list page has 60 real rows to read and a free Excel sample to download; check both before paying ₹499.

Mysuru areas that fill the file

Areas with the most businesses in the directory:

  • Kuvempunagar: 1,103
  • Mysore Ho: 836
  • Saraswathipuram: 793
  • Hebbal: 695
  • Mandi Mohalla: 646
  • Vijayanagar: 358
  • Yadavagiri: 324
  • Bogadi: 312

"Mysore Ho" is a post office label (the head office), not a neighbourhood. To pull out the manufacturers, filter the area column for Hebbal, Metagalli, Hootagalli and Belagola. Most other areas are residential layouts or the old city, where the rows are mostly clinics, shops and offices.

Who sells to Mysore businesses

  • Bamboo sticks, perfume compounds, charcoal powder, pouches and printed boxes for agarbatti makers.
  • Silk yarn, zari, dyes and saree boxes for weavers and silk showrooms.
  • Steel, tooling, maintenance and contract services for the units in the KIADB areas, and transporters who carry their goods to Bengaluru and beyond.
  • Laptops, networking, recruitment and training for software firms; our guide to IT and software companies explains how they buy.
  • Bed linen, catering equipment, booking systems and printed material for hotels and travel agents. The travel agents guide covers that trade nationally.
  • Accountants, insurers and software sellers who look after family firms and clinics.

Selling in Mysore: language, routes, seasons

  1. Start in Kannada if you can. Shop owners and small manufacturers mostly prefer it; software firms and larger plants work in English. Even a Kannada greeting at the start of a call is noticed by older owners.
  2. Say what you offer in one breath. For example: "Namaskara, I am Prakash from a printing unit in Bengaluru. We print agarbatti boxes in short runs and deliver within a week. May I post you two samples?"
  3. Pair it with a Bengaluru trip. Many suppliers serve Mysuru from Bengaluru. Plan a full day: the industrial areas on the city's edges in the morning, the older centre later, when shops are open and owners are in.
  4. Work around Dasara. During Dasara, which usually falls in September or October, hotels and travel firms are flat out and the centre is crowded. Talk to them in the months before, when they plan purchases.
  5. Keep within the rules. Run promotional calls and SMS past the DND rules first, and send WhatsApp messages only to people who have agreed to receive them.

Mysore questions, briefly answered

What does Mysore manufacture?

Silk sarees, sandalwood products and agarbatti are the traditional trades. The KIADB areas add engineering and other factories, and Nanjangud has larger plants of its own.

Are Nanjangud's factories in the Mysore list?

Each row sits under the town named in its address, so a unit that gives Nanjangud as its town is usually under Nanjangud, not Mysuru. The Karnataka lists include it, and a town filter finds it.

Can I get Mysore companies with email IDs?

Our Mysuru directory has an email address for 36% of its rows. Software firms, hotels and exporters are more likely to give one; small shops and workshops usually give only a mobile number. Send in small batches from an authenticated domain, and stop writing to anyone who asks.
