Textile companies in Surat, stage by stage

Textile companies in Surat work mostly with man-made fibre. Polyester and viscose yarn becomes grey fabric on the city's looms, goes to a process house to be dyed or printed, often picks up embroidery or hand work, and leaves through the Ring Road markets for shops across India. Each step is usually a separate firm, and much of it is job work done for a trader who owns the goods:

  1. Yarn preparation: yarn dealers, texturising and twisting units, and sizing units that prepare warp beams for the looms.
  2. Weaving: sheds of powerlooms and newer water-jet, rapier and air-jet looms in Sachin, Pandesara, Udhna and Katargam, and out towards Palsana and Kadodara.
  3. Processing: dyeing, printing and finishing mills, many in the Pandesara and Sachin GIDC estates, where digital printing is spreading.
  4. Value addition: computerised embroidery, lace, zari and stone work for sarees and dress materials, some of it in small units and homes in Varachha and Katargam.
  5. Trading: wholesalers in the market buildings along Ring Road and in the old-city lanes nearby, selling to retailers in other states, often through agents known as dalals.

Knowing the chain saves wasted calls. A Ring Road trader owns the cloth, but the process house chooses and buys the dyes; the weaver buys loom spares, yet the yarn may be supplied by the trader. Pitch to whoever pays for what you sell.

Free ways to find Surat textile firms

  • SGCCI, the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has many textile members, though its directory leans towards established firms.
  • Market associations. Each Ring Road market building has its own association, and the traders have a federation. Their records list shops by building and shop number, with phone numbers only sometimes.
  • Weavers' and processors' associations are active on power tariffs, GST and pollution rules. Many small loom owners never join.
  • GIDC shows the plots in Sachin and Pandesara, but not who rents the sheds.
  • GST taxpayer search confirms a trader's legal name and whether the GSTIN is active, which is worth doing before you send goods on credit.

None of them tells you the one thing you need first: whether a firm weaves, processes or only trades.

Our textile companies in Surat list

The Textiles & Fabrics in Surat list covers 2,730 businesses. 72% have a mobile number, 55% an email address and 62% a landline, still common in market shops; 81% name a person. You can read 60 real rows and download a free sample before paying ₹499 for the city list.

It is not only weavers and traders. Fabric dealers sit beside lace and garment accessory sellers, yarn and thread dealers, embroidery machine and loom spares dealers, and textile chemical suppliers. 86% of rows carry a category, the quickest way to split them.

Areas in the list

The areas with the most businesses in this list:

  • Ring Road: 494
  • Varachha Road: 88
  • Udhna: 81
  • Katargam: 56
  • Pandesara: 53
  • Kadodara: 47
  • Sachin: 37
  • Salabatpura: 36

Ring Road tops the list because the market buildings give it as their postal address, so read it as the traders' quarter rather than one street. Udhna, Pandesara, Sachin and Kadodara mostly mean mills and looms; old-city names near the markets mostly mean traders.

Who sells to Surat's textile trade

  • To yarn and weaving units: yarn agents, loom dealers, loom spares and repair shops, sizing chemicals, and rooftop solar for sheds with heavy power bills.

  • To embroidery units: multi-head embroidery machines and their spares, threads, stones and laces, and design digitising, which the trade calls punching.
  • To Ring Road traders: saree boxes and packaging, catalogue photography, marketplace account management, billing and GST software, and transporters booking parcels to other states.

Selling to Surat's weavers, mills and traders

  1. Sort by stage, then by area. The Category column gives the stage; the area column keeps the weaving belt apart from the markets.
  2. Open with something they can check. For example: "Namaste, we are a loom spares dealer in Sachin. We keep water-jet loom parts in stock and deliver in Palsana and Kadodara the same day. Who orders spares for your sheds?"
  3. Speak their language. Gujarati and Hindi both work, and many traders in the markets trace their roots to Rajasthan. Follow the owner's lead.
  4. Be clear on credit. Cloth moves on credit, often through an agent, so state your payment terms in the first call and check the buyer's GSTIN before the first dispatch.
  5. Watch the season. Before Diwali and the wedding season everyone is busy dispatching; after the Diwali break, when units restart and reorder, new suppliers get a better hearing.
  6. Follow the rules. Read our DND guide before promotional calls or SMS, and send WhatsApp catalogues only to people who ask for them.
