Chemical companies in Ahmedabad: the estates and their trades

Most chemical companies in Ahmedabad work from a ring of GIDC estates on the eastern and southern edges of the city, and the trade they are best known for is colour: dyes, dye intermediates and pigments, sold to textile processors in India and abroad. Around them sit plastics moulders, chemical traders and a few large formulators:

  • Vatva and Naroda: the older estates, where reactive, acid and disperse dyes, intermediates and pigments are made by one-reactor family units and established export houses alike.
  • Odhav and Kathwada: smaller chemical blenders and plastics moulders sharing lanes with fabrication shops.
  • Narol: known for textile processing houses, and so for the suppliers of textile chemicals and auxiliaries who serve them.
  • Changodar and Moraiya: newer belts on the highway towards Bavla, with pharma, specialty chemical and packaging plants.
  • Traders in the city: solvent and chemical dealers in the old wholesale quarter around Kalupur, and trading offices off Ashram Road and in Navrangpura.

Pick the pocket that fits what you sell: a dye house buys drums, dryer spares and effluent services every month, while a moulder buys polymer granules and mould repairs.

Free records for Ahmedabad chemical units, and what they miss

  • GIDC publishes its estates and plot allotments. It confirms that a unit sits in Vatva or Naroda, not who buys for it.
  • Estate industries associations in Vatva, Naroda and Odhav keep member records, usually for members only.
  • GCCI, the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is based in Ahmedabad and counts chemical and dye firms among its members.
  • CHEMEXCIL, the export promotion council for chemicals and dyes, lists member exporters. Units selling only within India are missing.
  • The Gujarat Pollution Control Board grants each unit its consent to establish and operate, and some consents can be looked up online. They show what a plant may make, not who buys its packaging.

Our list of chemical companies in Ahmedabad

If you want a chemical companies in Ahmedabad list you can sort and filter, the Chemicals, Plastics & Rubber in Ahmedabad list holds 3,379 businesses. 90% have a mobile number and 94% an email address; 71% give a person to ask for, and 21% a website. Sixty real rows and a free Excel sample are on the list page, and as a city list it costs ₹499.

The file is broader than the word "chemical" suggests. Beside chemical makers and dealers sit dye and pigment firms, textile chemical suppliers, agrochemical businesses and plastics units such as moulded furniture makers, because all of them fall under chemicals, plastics and rubber. 69% of rows carry a category, so filter that column first. Many self-described manufacturers only trade, so ask early.

Only a small share of rows name an area, so sort by PIN code to separate the eastern estates from offices on the west bank of the Sabarmati. Where an area is given, the ones that turn up most are Odhav, Kalupur, Rakhial, Amraiwadi, Mani Nagar and Vatva Industrial Estate.

Lists for the businesses around the trade

Firms that build plant, pack, export or distribute in Ahmedabad have city lists of their own:

For the whole state there is the Chemicals, Plastics & Rubber in Gujarat list of 12,581 businesses, and other Gujarat cities have chemical lists too, including Vadodara, Surat, Bharuch, Jamnagar and Ankleshwar. The All-India list has 83,029 chemical, plastics and rubber businesses, sold as bulk data at ₹1,999. Every list we hold for the city is on the Ahmedabad page.

Who sells to Ahmedabad's dye and chemical makers

  • Plant and maintenance: spray dryers, reactors, filter presses and the workshops that repair them. Many dyes are dried to powder, so dryer spares are a steady order.
  • Raw materials: traders of acids, alkalis, solvents and intermediates such as H-acid and vinyl sulphone, which reactive dye makers buy in bulk.
  • Packaging: HDPE and fibre drums, laminated bags and liners for powder dyes.
  • Effluent and waste: treatment plant builders and operators, evaporators, authorised hazardous waste transporters, and consultants who prepare pollution board applications.
  • Laboratories: spectrophotometers for shade matching, reagents and calibration services.
  • Logistics: container hauliers to Mundra, and transporters carrying dye lots to processing towns such as Surat and Pali.

Calling chemical units in Ahmedabad

  1. Split the file before you dial. Makers, traders and plastics units need different pitches, and the Category column separates most of them.
  2. Catch owners where they are. Small-unit owners often spend the morning at the plant and the afternoon at a city office. If the plant line rings out, try the mobile after lunch.
  3. Open in Gujarati or Hindi with something concrete. For example: "Namaste, sir. We rebuild spray dryer atomisers for dye units in Vatva and Naroda, usually within the week. Who looks after maintenance at your plant?"
  4. Have the papers ready: technical and safety data sheets, a certificate of analysis, a sample, and a rate per kilo with GST shown.
  5. Group visits by estate. Naroda lies to the north-east, Odhav and Kathwada to the east, Vatva and Narol to the south-east and Changodar to the south-west.
  6. Mind the rules. Read our DND guide before promotional calls or SMS, and note anyone who asks not to be called again.

Questions people ask

Where are the dye manufacturers in Ahmedabad?

Mostly in GIDC Vatva and GIDC Naroda, with smaller units in Odhav. Many also keep a city office, so a listed address may not be the plant.

Can I get only dye and pigment makers?

Filter the Category column for dyes, intermediates and pigments. For one estate only, request a custom list.

Should I look at Ahmedabad or Vadodara for chemical buyers?

Both. Ahmedabad is strongest in dyes, pigments and trading; Vadodara has large petrochemical and fertiliser plants and specialty chemical estates, and our guide to chemical companies in Vadodara covers that side. For every other trade in the city, see our list of companies in Ahmedabad.
