As the capital of Uttar Pradesh it houses the state secretariat and the directorates of most departments, all of which buy goods and services, and a list of companies in Lucknow is full of the firms that supply them. Public records and local bodies worth checking

MCA master data covers a single company or LLP per search: status, directors, registered office. Most Lucknow shops and workshops are proprietorships, so they are not in it.
UPSIDA, the state's industrial development authority, lists its industrial areas across Uttar Pradesh. Good for knowing where units sit, not for reaching them.
The Indian Industries Association (IIA) is headquartered in Lucknow and speaks for small and medium industry in the state. CII has its state office in the city too. Their member details mostly stay inside the association.
The district industries centre processes Udyam paperwork and subsidy claims, and the state's Nivesh Mitra portal handles approvals. Neither is a business directory.
Tender results on the state's e-tender portal and on GeM often name the firms that won orders, which is a slow but free way to find government suppliers.

Approaching Lucknow businesses the local way

Divide the city by the river. The trans-Gomti side (Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar, Aliganj, Mahanagar, Vikas Nagar) has offices, clinics and newer shops. The older city south of the river (Aminabad, Chowk, Yahiyaganj, Lalbagh, Hazratganj) holds most of the trade. Industry sits on the edges.
Be courteous before you are quick. Lucknow's tehzeeb is real in business too. Use "aap", ask after the person, and do not rush to the price. Hindi works everywhere, often with Urdu words; IT firms and hospitals also use English.
Mention that you are local, if you are. "Namaste, main Aliganj se bol raha hoon. Hum aas-paas ke clinics ko disposables supply karte hain. Kya aapse do minute baat ho sakti hai?" opens more doors than a company profile.
Time it to the market. Old-city wholesalers start their day late and are busiest in the evening, so late morning is the best window.
