Telecom companies list in India: network and equipment firms

Where telecom and network firms are licensed and listed, and who sells to them.

Telecom is more than the mobile operators

Ask anyone for a list of telecom companies in India and they will name the mobile operators: Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and state-owned BSNL. They are a handful of very large buyers who purchase through tenders and vendor registration. Around them sits a much wider B2B market, and that is usually what sellers are after:

  • Internet service providers and cable operators: local broadband and fibre-to-the-home firms serving one town or a few districts.
  • Infrastructure firms: tower, fibre-laying and in-building coverage contractors, and the maintenance crews behind them.
  • Network and systems integrators: structured cabling, Wi-Fi, EPABX and intercom, CCTV and office networking.
  • Equipment makers and distributors: routers, ONTs, switches, fibre cable, and batteries and power systems for sites.
  • The mobile phone trade: distributors, wholesalers and retailers of handsets, chargers, cases and spare parts.

Each group buys different things and answers the phone at different times, so treat them as separate markets.

Licences, registrations and where to check them

  • DoT licences. The Department of Telecommunications licenses telecom and internet service providers and registers infrastructure providers, and it publishes lists of licence holders, such as ISPs, on its website. The framework is moving to authorisations under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, so check DoT for the current position.
  • TRAI reports. TRAI publishes subscriber and performance figures by operator and telecom circle. Useful for sizing a market; no contacts.
  • Tenders and GeM. Government telecom and network work is bought through tenders and the Government e-Marketplace, and published tender results show which contractors win it.
  • GST and MCA look-ups to confirm a firm's legal name, address and status before you supply on credit.

The DoT lists help you find licensed ISPs. They say nothing about integrators, dealers or cabling contractors, most of whom need no telecom licence at all.

Our list of telecom companies in India

Our Telecom Equipment & Network Companies list has 82,865 businesses in 215 cities. 99% have a mobile number and 63% an email address; 77% include a contact name. It is a broad list. Network firms and ISPs sit beside mobile phone shops, computer dealers and software sellers, because that is how many of these businesses describe themselves. The category column, filled in for 99% of rows, is how you narrow it down. For software and IT services firms, our IT and software companies guide is the better start.

Who sells to telecom and network firms

  • Fibre and FTTH suppliers: optical fibre cable, splitters, patch cords, splicing machines and ONTs for local broadband operators.
  • Bandwidth providers looking for ISPs that resell to homes and offices.
  • Software for operators: subscriber billing, payment collection, helpdesk and network monitoring tools.
  • Power for sites: batteries, inverters, small generators and solar for towers and network rooms. Our guide to solar and power companies covers those suppliers.
  • Accessory brands and distributors looking for phone shops and wholesalers to stock chargers, cables, cases and earphones.
  • Training and staffing firms supplying fibre splicers, field technicians and network engineers.

Approaching ISPs, integrators and phone dealers

  1. Split the list by type first. An ISP owner, a CCTV integrator and a phone shop need three different pitches. Use the category column to make three call sheets.
  2. Talk in their numbers. ISPs think in subscribers, bandwidth and churn; integrators in projects and margins; phone dealers in fast-moving stock and schemes.
  3. Use a concrete opener. For example: "We stock GPON ONTs and fibre patch cords in Ahmedabad and deliver to cable and broadband operators across Gujarat in two days. Are you adding FTTH connections this quarter?"
  4. Call in their quiet hours. Phone shops are busiest in the evening and at weekends, so call them on weekday mornings soon after opening. Broadband complaints pile up in the evening, when home use peaks, so reach ISP owners in late morning.
  5. Be ready for their questions: compatibility with the equipment they already run, warranty and replacement, stock on hand, credit terms and GST invoices.

Their mobile numbers can be on the DND register like anyone else's, so read our DND guide before a calling campaign.

Telecom list FAQs

Who are the main telecom operators in India?

For mobile services, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL. They buy through formal vendor registration and tenders, so a cold call rarely helps. Our vendor registration guide explains how to get on approved supplier lists.

How do I find broadband operators in my district?

Start with DoT's list of ISP licence holders, then open the city or state list for your area and filter the category column for internet and network services. Local cable operators often run broadband as well, so include them.

Is a telecom companies list useful if I sell phone accessories?

Yes. Phone and accessory shops are part of this list under their own categories. Filter for them, and leave the network rows for another campaign.
