Who is on a list of solar companies in India

A list of solar companies in India can hold very different businesses. Large developers build utility-scale plants, and Gujarat and Rajasthan have the most installed capacity. But most solar firms are far smaller, and they are the ones suppliers and lenders want to reach:

  • Rooftop installers and EPC firms: design and fit systems on homes, shops, schools and factory roofs. Many are local outfits with a few crews, and many also sell batteries and inverters.
  • Dealers and distributors: stock panels, inverters, batteries, cables and mounting structures for installers in their region.
  • Module and equipment makers: panel, inverter, battery and structure manufacturers, from large plants to small assembly units.
  • Solar pump and water heater suppliers: pumps for farms, often under government schemes, and water heaters for homes, hotels and hostels.

Government schemes drive much of this demand. MNRE's rooftop programme for homes, PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, runs through a national portal with registered vendors, and the PM-KUSUM scheme has supported solar pumps for farmers. Scheme rules change, so check the current position on the official portals.

Official vendor lists and what they leave out

  • The national rooftop solar portal. Lists vendors registered to install subsidised home systems, state by state. Good for finding active residential installers; it leaves out firms that do only commercial, industrial or off-grid work.
  • State renewable energy agencies and power distribution companies. Many empanel vendors for their own programmes and publish the names. Formats differ from state to state, and the lists can lag behind reality.
  • MNRE's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). Names module makers whose models are approved, which matters for government-backed projects. It tells you who makes panels, not who installs them.
  • Solar exhibitions and industry associations. Exhibitor and member lists show manufacturers and distributors, mostly the larger ones.

Battery, inverter and UPS dealers who have moved into solar rarely appear on any official list, yet many of them install small systems too. A solar companies list built only from government sources will miss them.

Our solar dealers and installers list

Our Solar Dealers & Installers list brings together 5,012 solar businesses in 120 cities and towns: rooftop installers, solar product dealers, and sellers of solar water heaters and lighting. 94% have a mobile number and 56% an email address; 66% carry a contact name. We built it from the solar firms that were spread across our other lists and merged the duplicates, so each firm appears once.

By what they sell

For the wider trade around solar, such as inverter, UPS and battery dealers, generator suppliers and transformer makers, see the Energy, Power & Petroleum list (1,04,118 businesses).

Who sells to solar installers and dealers

  • Panel and inverter distributors looking for installers who order every month.
  • Battery makers, especially lithium battery brands moving into home and commercial storage.
  • Structure and balance-of-system suppliers: galvanised mounting structures, DC cables, connectors, earthing kits and lightning arresters.
  • Lenders: banks and NBFCs offering solar loans to homeowners and small businesses through installers.
  • Software and services: design and quotation tools, CRM for installer sales teams, panel cleaning, and training for new technicians.

It also works the other way. Installers hunting for commercial roofs call factories and warehouses, and our manufacturing companies guide covers that market.

Reaching installers without wasting their day

  1. Sort before you dial. Split installers from dealers using the category column, then group them by district so one salesperson owns one area.
  2. Open with supply and speed. For example: "We are a Jaipur distributor of on-grid inverters and modules, delivering to installers across Rajasthan within the week. How many rooftop jobs are you doing a month?"
  3. Call when they are off the roof. Installers spend most of the day at sites. Late afternoon, roughly 4 to 6 p.m., gets more owners on the phone.
  4. Answer what they will ask: price per watt, stock on hand, warranty and who honours it, credit terms, and whether your products qualify for subsidy jobs under the current scheme rules.
  5. Give them a reason to meet, such as a product training session for their technicians, rather than a second sales call.

Check the DND rules before calling, and register on DLT before sending promotional SMS; our DLT registration guide explains the steps.

Questions about solar lists

Is the solar list only installers?

No. It holds installers and EPC firms, dealers and distributors of solar products, and sellers of solar water heaters and lighting. The category column tells you which is which, so filter it before you call.

Is there an official list of solar installers?

Partly. The national rooftop portal lists registered vendors for the home programme, and some state agencies publish empanelled vendors. Neither covers every installer, or the dealers who supply them.

Can I get solar firms in one state only?

Yes. Find your state on our cities and states page, open the solar list there, or combine cities in the list builder. For anything narrower, ask for a custom list.
