Pharma companies in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai
Mumbai is where much of Indian pharma is run from rather than made. Many of the country's best-known drug makers keep their head offices, export desks, regulatory teams and marketing divisions in the city, while their plants work in the MIDC industrial areas around it: the Thane-Belapur road, Taloja, Tarapur and beyond. Add the old trading streets of South Mumbai, where bulk drugs and pharma raw materials change hands, and a list of pharma companies in Mumbai holds very different buyers.
Our Pharma & Chemical Companies in Mumbai list has 1,023 entries with Mumbai addresses, and the Pharma & Chemical Companies in Maharashtra list adds the companies that give Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune or another Maharashtra town as their city. Both have 60 sample rows on the list page. The figures, and how to use them, are further down.
Head offices, trading streets and the MIDC belts
- Corporate offices. Worli, Lower Parel, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Andheri and Goregaon hold head offices and the floors of marketing, regulatory and export teams. Brand, contract manufacturing and large capital decisions are often made here.
- The trading streets. Kalbadevi, Princess Street and the lanes towards Masjid Bunder have long been home to traders and importers of bulk drugs, intermediates and chemicals, often family firms in small offices.
- Suburban offices and small units. Andheri's MIDC area, Goregaon, Ghatkopar and Mulund have mid-size pharma companies, third-party makers' sales offices, and process equipment firms.
- The Thane-Belapur belt. The MIDC Trans Thane Creek area, running from Thane towards Belapur, long a base for chemical and pharma units. Much of it falls within Navi Mumbai.
- Taloja and Tarapur. Taloja MIDC near Panvel and Tarapur MIDC near Boisar, in Palghar district, both with bulk drug, intermediate and chemical plants. Dombivli, Ambernath and Mahad have further chemical estates.
So choose between the office and the plant before you call. Packaging, solvents, spares and services are usually bought at the plant; vendor approval and big orders often need head office too.
Free sources on Mumbai pharma companies
- The Food and Drug Administration, Maharashtra licenses drug makers and sellers in the state. A licence number confirms a unit is legitimate, nothing more.
- CDSCO, the national regulator, publishes approvals and notices, including the revised Schedule M rules that plants are upgrading to. It is not a directory.
- Pharmexcil, the pharma export promotion council, has a directory of member exporters, and many Mumbai companies export.
- Industry bodies such as the Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association hold events and keep member lists, mostly for members.
- MCA master data and the GST search confirm a company's legal name, status and registered office, one company at a time; our company search guide shows how.
None of these hands you the purchase manager's name, a mobile number, or a file you can sort by area.
Our list of pharma companies in Mumbai
The Pharma & Chemical Companies in Mumbai list has 1,023 entries. 64% come with a mobile number and 83% with a contact person's name; 54% have an email address, and 65% a landline, usually the office board. Sixty real rows and a free Excel sample are on the list page, and a city list costs ₹499.
It mixes pharmaceutical makers, bulk drug and intermediate firms, pharma raw material traders, process equipment makers and some homeopathic pharmacies. The Category column is filled on 87% of rows, so one filter keeps only the kind you sell to.

Who sells to Mumbai's pharma companies
At head office and in the trading streets:
- Regulatory, dossier and pharmacovigilance consultants, translators and medical writers.
- Freight forwarders, customs brokers and cold chain firms for exports through Nhava Sheva and the airport.
- Carton, leaflet and label printers, and packaging designers.
- Recruiters for medical representatives and sales managers, and sales-force software firms.
At the plants in Thane-Belapur, Taloja and Tarapur:
- Solvent and intermediate suppliers, solvent recovery and effluent treatment firms.
- Reactor, dryer and cleanroom makers, and maintenance contractors.
- Lab instruments, calibration and validation services; our lab equipment guide covers that trade.
- Drums, blister foil and bottles, contract labour, staff transport and canteens.
Selling to a Mumbai pharma company, step by step
- Split the file by place and purpose. South Mumbai traders, suburban offices, and plants outside the city. A morning in Kalbadevi and an afternoon in Taloja will not fit in one day.
- Find the right desk. Purchase handles packaging and raw materials; QA and QC choose instruments and testing; engineering picks machines; regulatory affairs hires consultants. At a trading firm, the owner decides.
- Call mid-morning, Tuesday to Thursday. Avoid month-end, when orders and payments are closed, and audit weeks. English works in offices; Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati help with traders.
- Open with proof. For example: "Good morning. I'm Sneha from a Bhiwandi firm that makes HDPE drums for API exporters, and we already supply units in Tarapur. Who approves packaging vendors at your Taloja plant?"
- Plan for the monsoon. From June to September, heavy rain slows travel to Taloja and Tarapur, so book plant visits and trials before June or after the rains.
- Mind the rules. Read the DND rules before promotional calls or SMS, and our cold calling tips before the first round of calls.
Questions people ask
Where are the pharma companies in Navi Mumbai?
Mostly on the Thane-Belapur road (the MIDC Trans Thane Creek area) and in Taloja MIDC near Panvel. Companies there may give Navi Mumbai, Thane or Raigad as their city, so look in the Maharashtra list, or pick those places in the builder.
Are pharma companies in Thane in the Mumbai list?
No. The Mumbai file holds addresses that give Mumbai as the city. Thane companies are in the state list, and its City column separates them out.
Can I get pharma companies in Mumbai with email IDs?
About 54% of rows in ours have an email address, so plan on calls for the rest. Keep the first email short and specific, and remember that details change as people move jobs.
