Battery, inverter and UPS companies in India

The makers fall into three overlapping groups:

  • Battery makers. Exide Industries and Amara Raja, maker of the Amaron brand, are the long-established lead-acid battery manufacturers, with plants in India making automotive, inverter and industrial batteries. Inverter brands such as Luminous, Livguard and Okaya also sell their own batteries, and a growing number of companies sell lithium-ion batteries for homes, e-rickshaws and solar systems.
  • Home inverter brands. Luminous, Microtek, V-Guard, Livguard, Okaya and Eastman are familiar names, alongside many regional assemblers who sell in one or two states.
  • UPS makers for offices and data. APC, Vertiv and Numeric are among the names in online UPS systems for offices, hospitals, banks and server rooms, sold mostly through system integrators and IT dealers rather than shops.

Lithium-ion is the part of the trade changing fastest. The PLI scheme for advanced chemistry cell batteries supports large cell plants in India, and lithium batteries are moving into inverters, solar storage and electric two- and three-wheelers.

The names above are what people search for. What most sellers need is the trade underneath them: the inverter, UPS and battery dealers in every city and town, who sell, install and replace these products. That is the list Starleads sells.

How batteries and inverters are sold, and the rules around them

A home inverter usually goes from the brand to a distributor, then to a dealer who sells the inverter and battery as a pair, delivers, installs and comes back for top-ups and repairs. Many dealers also sell car and two-wheeler batteries, e-rickshaw batteries and, increasingly, solar panels. Demand is strongest where power cuts are common and in the summer, when cuts and load go up together. Battery dealers usually take back the old battery against a new one, and that scrap becomes part of their business.

Two sets of rules matter:

  • The Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022. These put extended producer responsibility (EPR) on makers, importers and brand owners of all kinds of batteries. Producers register on the Central Pollution Control Board's EPR portal and must make sure used batteries are collected and sent to registered recyclers or refurbishers. Dealers are often the collection point, so EPR service firms and recyclers call them too.
  • BIS registration. Lithium-ion cells and batteries, and a range of other electronic products, need registration under the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme before they can be sold. The BIS website lists the products covered. A buyer can ask for the registration number printed on the product.

Our inverter, UPS and battery dealers list

The Inverter, UPS & Battery Dealers list has 28,929 businesses in 351 cities and towns: inverter and battery dealers, UPS sellers and service firms, automotive battery shops, and some assemblers and distributors. 86% have a mobile number, 39% an email address and 97% an address. 42% carry a contact name. Small shops change hands and numbers, so expect some rows to be out of date; the free sample lets you check the mix first.

Who sells to inverter and battery dealers

  • Inverter and battery brands looking for dealers in towns they do not cover, and lithium battery companies building a first network. See how to get a dealership for the dealer's side.
  • Solar panel and solar inverter distributors, since many dealers now fit small solar systems. Our solar companies guide covers that trade.
  • Accessory makers: battery trolleys, cables and terminals, distilled water, chargers, testers and voltage stabilisers.
  • Recyclers and EPR service firms collecting used batteries.
  • System integrators and IT dealers who need UPS service partners in other towns.
  • Lenders and software firms: dealer stock finance, consumer EMI, and billing and service software that tracks battery warranties by serial number.

The same shops often sell air conditioners and stabilisers, or sit next to tyre and auto battery outlets. See the AC dealers guide and the tyre dealers guide.

Calling battery and inverter dealers

  1. Sort the list by what they sell. Home inverter dealers, car battery shops and UPS firms buy different things. Use the category column before you dial.
  2. Call in the quieter hours. Mornings go on deliveries and service calls. Early afternoon, or before the evening rush, is usually better.
  3. Open with warranty, stock and service. For example: "Namaste, I'm calling from a lithium inverter battery company in Noida. We give a five-year replacement warranty handled from our Lucknow service point, and dealers keep stock on 30-day credit. How many inverter batteries do you sell in a summer month?"
  4. Be ready for questions on margin, how warranty claims are settled and how fast, buy-back of old batteries, credit, and whether you advertise locally.
  5. Time your follow-ups before summer, when dealers build stock.

Check the DND rules before calling, and see our cold calling tips for openers and objections.

Questions people ask

Which is the best inverter battery company in India?

It depends on the use: backup hours, budget, tubular lead-acid or lithium, and above all after-sales service in your town. Ask local dealers which brands settle warranty claims quickly. We do not rank companies.

Does the list include battery manufacturers?

Some assemblers and distributors list themselves alongside dealers, but most rows are dealers and service firms. Electrical and electronics makers are in our electronics manufacturers guide.

Can I get car battery dealers only?

Use the automobile batteries specialisation list if it appears above, or filter the category column. To combine several cities, use the list builder.
