Tiles manufacturers in India: Morbi makers and dealers list

Morbi and the other tile hubs, how tiles are sold, and a dealers list by city.

Tiles manufacturers in India start with Morbi

Ask who makes India's tiles and the honest answer is one town: Morbi, in Gujarat's Saurashtra region. Hundreds of ceramic factories stand on the roads around it, making wall and floor tiles, glazed and polished vitrified tiles, porcelain slabs, roofing and parking tiles, and sanitaryware. The town was making clay roofing tiles long before vitrified tiles, and over the decades it built up everything a cluster needs: glaze and frit suppliers, machinery dealers and mechanics, packing material, transporters, pipeline gas for the kilns, and a large pool of skilled workers. Morbi tiles go to every state and are exported to many countries.

The branded companies most buyers know include Kajaria Ceramics, Somany Ceramics, H&R Johnson (part of Prism Johnson), Orient Bell, Asian Granito India and Nitco, along with Morbi brands such as Simpolo and Varmora. Some of the national brands run their own plants; many also source from Morbi, where a lot of factories make tiles that are sold under another company's name. So a "tiles manufacturers list" is really two lists: a few dozen brands, and hundreds of factories behind them.

Natural stone has its own map, mostly in Rajasthan and the South: white marble from Makrana, the big marble market at Kishangarh near Ajmer, marble processing around Udaipur and Rajsamand, Kota stone from the Kota region, and granite from Jalore, from Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu and from Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh. What Starleads sells is the trade that buys from all of them: tiles, marble and granite dealers, by city and state.

How tiles reach a floor

  • Factories and brands sell to distributors and dealers. Morbi makers often sell straight to dealers in other states, sending full truckloads, while national brands also work through regional distributors and company showrooms.
  • Dealers and showrooms keep display boards and room mock-ups, stock a few brands in the sizes that sell locally, and usually add sanitaryware and bath fittings.
  • Specifiers decide much of the demand: architects and interior designers name a size, finish and sometimes a brand, and builders buy in bulk for housing projects. Our architects list guide covers how material sellers reach them.
  • Tile fitters and contractors influence the choice of adhesive, grout and spacers, and sometimes the tile itself on smaller jobs.

Dealers talk in sizes and finishes: 600 by 600 and 600 by 1200 millimetres, large slabs, glossy, matt or carving finish, glazed vitrified (GVT and PGVT), double charge and full body tiles. Know which of these you are offering before you call.

Our tiles, marble and granite dealers list

The Tiles, Marble & Granite Dealers list holds 26,772 businesses in 314 cities and towns: tile showrooms, marble and granite dealers, stone processors and traders, and some factories that list themselves under tiles. In Rajasthan's stone towns many rows are processors and stone traders rather than showrooms. 87% have a mobile number, 44% an email address and 55% a contact name. Contact details change, and no list of dealers is ever complete, so try the free sample first.

Tile buyers also need taps, basins and fittings, and many hardware shops sell tiles on the side:

Who sells to tile and stone dealers

  • Morbi factories and tile brands looking for dealers in states where they are thin. This is the most common reason to buy a tile dealers list.
  • Sanitaryware and bath fittings brands, since the same showroom sells both.
  • Tile adhesive, grout and epoxy makers, and sellers of spacers, levelling systems and cutting tools.
  • Stone processors in Rajasthan and the South selling marble, granite and Kota stone slabs to dealers in the cities.
  • Showroom suppliers: display racks and boards, lighting, and software that shows a customer's room in different tiles.
  • Transporters running Morbi-to-city full truckloads, and lenders financing dealer stock.

Dealers sit inside a wider building trade. The plywood guide and paint guide cover the neighbouring counters, and our guide to construction companies in Bangalore shows one city's buyers.

Calling tile dealers

  1. Find out what sells locally. Coastal towns, hill towns and metro flats buy different sizes and finishes. Ask before you pitch.
  2. Open with the product and the delivery. For example: "Namaste, I'm calling from a vitrified tile factory in Morbi. We make 600 by 1200 glazed vitrified tiles in matt and high gloss, and we can load a full truck for Indore within a week of the order. Which sizes are moving fastest in your showroom?"
  3. Be ready for the dealer's questions: rate per box or per square foot, breakage and who bears it, shade variation between batches, minimum order, payment terms, and whether you will give display boards.
  4. Send pictures and a catalogue on WhatsApp once the dealer agrees, then follow up with a sample box.

Before you call a list, check the DND rules. The cold calling tips cover openers and follow-ups in more detail.

Questions people ask

Can I get a list of tile factories in Morbi?

Some Morbi factories and traders are in our tiles file, and Morbi has its own city list. Search for it on our cities and states page, or ask for a custom list if you need factories only.

Which is the best tiles company in India?

There is no single answer: the right brand depends on the size, finish, price band and how quickly a maker can deliver to your town. Companies publish their own figures; check a maker's dealers and installed projects rather than any online ranking.

Does the list separate marble dealers from tile showrooms?

Yes, through the category column, and through the marble, granite and tiles specialisation lists above where they exist. To combine several cities, use the list builder.
