Construction companies in Hyderabad: who builds what
People who search for construction companies in Hyderabad want different things. A family wants a contractor for a house, a landowner wants a developer for a joint development, and a supplier wants contractors to sell cement, steel or shuttering to. Our Hyderabad contractors list covers contractors and civil engineers, and builders, architects and material dealers have lists of their own, all further down. The trade has three layers:
- Builders and developers: buy land or sign joint development agreements with landowners, get approvals, sell flats, villas and offices, and hire contractors to build them.
- Civil contractors: from turnkey and EPC firms putting up towers, campuses and factory sheds to building contractors who construct independent houses and small apartment blocks, often on labour-only or item-rate terms.
- Specialist subcontractors: shuttering and formwork, steel fixing, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, fabrication, painting, flooring and interiors.
Civil engineers who design structures, supervise sites and prepare estimates work beside all three as consultants.
Where the cranes are matters for anyone selling to this trade:
- The western corridor: HITEC City, Gachibowli, the Financial District, Kokapet, Narsingi and Tellapur, with office campuses and some of the city's tallest residential towers.
- Along the Outer Ring Road: gated villa projects, warehouses and plotted layouts near its exits, from Kompally and Medchal in the north to Shamshabad by the airport in the south.
- The east: Uppal, LB Nagar and the roads towards Ghatkesar, with mid-priced apartments and independent houses.
- Industry and public works: sheds and plants in the industrial areas, and roads, flyovers and water projects let by government departments.
Registrations and records, and what they leave out
- Telangana's RERA authority. Under the RERA Act, real estate projects on more than 500 square metres of land, or with more than eight apartments, must be registered before they are advertised. The authority's site shows each promoter, project and progress update, a good way to check a developer.
- State works departments. Telangana's Roads and Buildings department and other works departments register contractors in classes, which set the value of work each may bid for.
- CPWD enlistment. The Central Public Works Department enlists contractors by category of work and class. The railways and the Military Engineer Services keep their own lists.
- Tender portals. The state's e-procurement site and the Central Public Procurement Portal publish tenders and, for many, who won.
- Building approvals. GHMC approves buildings within its limits and HMDA in the wider metropolitan area. A big approval is an early sign of a project that will need contractors and material.
These records rarely carry phone numbers and leave out most of the private trade: contractors who work only for builders, factories and homeowners. Developers' bodies such as CREDAI's Hyderabad chapter, and local builders' and contractors' associations, know that side well, though their member books stay with members.
Our list of construction contractors in Hyderabad
The Civil Engineers & Contractors in Hyderabad file holds 17,409 contractors and civil engineers. 96% have a mobile number and 95% an email address; 71% give a contact person's name. 90% carry an address, so search it for an area such as Kukatpally, Gachibowli or LB Nagar to build a calling route. Few rows give a PIN code, so plan by area name. Sixty real rows are on the list page with a free Excel sample, and a city list costs ₹499.
Most rows carry the broad label Civil Engineer, which covers contractors, site engineers and consultants alike, so the Category column will not split the trade for you. The firm's name and a short first call will.
Check before you rely on any list: sites end and phone numbers change, so call twenty rows first and see how many reach a working contractor.

Who sells to Hyderabad's contractors and builders
- Cement from plants in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, sold through dealers or direct to large sites. Our cement companies guide covers the makers and dealers.
- Steel: TMT bars, structural sections and the fabricators who cut and bend them.
- Ready-mix concrete plants on the city's edges, which most high-rise sites now rely on.
- Finishes: tiles, granite (much of it quarried in Telangana), sanitaryware and paint, often chosen by the builder or the owner's architect. See our guides to tiles makers and paint companies.
- Electrical and plumbing distributors chasing project orders bigger than counter sales.
- Rental firms: excavators, cranes, concrete pumps, aluminium formwork, scaffolding and props by the day or month.
- Services: soil testing, structural design, safety gear, labour camps, equipment finance and contractor's all-risk insurance.
Calling contractors in Hyderabad
- Leave the morning to the site. Call between 1 and 2 pm or after 5 pm, when many contractors are back at the office.
- Greet in Telugu, carry on in the language they choose. Hindi and Urdu are widely spoken in Hyderabad, and larger firms work in English. For example: "Namaskaram sir, this is Kiran from a formwork rental firm in Kukatpally. We rent aluminium formwork and props by the month and deliver across the western corridor within a day. Do you have a slab coming up in the next few weeks?"
- Talk rates and terms. Expect questions on the rate per bag, tonne or month, delivery to site, credit days and the GST invoice.
- Ask about the work ahead. Which sites are running, which start next, and who picks the materials on each: the contractor, the builder or the architect.
- Mind the season. Sites slow in the heaviest monsoon weeks and around Sankranti in January, when many workers go home.
- Follow the rules. Check the DND rules before promotional calls or SMS. Our contractors list guide has more on selling to the trade.
Questions people ask
Which are the top construction companies in Hyderabad?
No official ranking exists, and size alone tells you little. For a developer, look at its RERA record, completed projects and how they were handed over. For a contractor, visit a running site, ask for two past clients and check the firm's GST registration. For the city's other industries, see our list of companies in Hyderabad.
How do I check whether a Hyderabad builder is RERA registered?
Search the Telangana RERA site by project or promoter name. A registered project shows its registration number, approvals and progress updates; ask the builder for the number if it is not on the brochure.
Are builders and developers in the contractors list?
Some appear, but builders and developers mostly sit in the real estate list for the city. Use both if you sell to the whole trade.
Where can I find government contractors in Hyderabad?
Start with the tender results on the state e-procurement site and the works departments' registered contractor lists, then match the names against a contact list to get phone numbers.
