A list of companies in Maharashtra, region by region

Maharashtra is one of India's largest industrial states, and a list of companies in Maharashtra has to cover far more than Mumbai. Job seekers usually want a short list of big employers. A business selling to other businesses needs the owner-run units, traders and service firms in every region, and it helps to know which region makes what:

  • Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai: head offices of banks, insurers, pharma and consumer companies, the stock exchanges, SEBI and the RBI; the TTC (Trans-Thane Creek) industrial area along the Thane-Belapur road and Taloja nearby for chemicals and engineering; SEEPZ in Andheri for gems, jewellery and electronics; and Bhiwandi's warehouses and powerlooms.
  • Pune: the auto and engineering belts of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Bhosari, Chakan, Talegaon and Ranjangaon, IT at Hinjewadi and Kharadi, and chemicals at Kurkumbh.
  • The coast: Tarapur MIDC near Boisar in Palghar district for chemicals, pharma and textiles, and Mahad and Roha in Raigad for chemicals.
  • Nashik: Satpur and Ambad MIDC for engineering, electrical goods and auto parts, Sinnar further out, and the district's grape, wine and onion trade.
  • Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar): Waluj, Chikalthana and Shendra MIDC with auto, pharma and engineering plants, and the newer AURIC industrial city at Shendra and Bidkin.
  • Nagpur and Vidarbha: Butibori and Hingna MIDC, the MIHAN project near Nagpur airport, coal, power and mineral industries further east, and Nagpur's orange trade.
  • Western Maharashtra: Kolhapur's foundries and engineering units, Ichalkaranji's powerlooms, Solapur's textile mills, and sugar cooperatives across the region.

MIDC and the other free sources

  • MIDC (the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation), set up in 1962, develops and runs industrial areas across the state and publishes area lists, plot maps and allotments. Plot records show the allottee, not always the business running there today, and carry no purchase contacts.
  • District Industries Centres in every district run the state's MSME schemes and know the local clusters.
  • Chambers and associations: MACCIA (the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture) statewide, MCCIA in Pune, the Vidarbha Industries Association in Nagpur, NIMA in Nashik and CMIA in Aurangabad, plus estate associations in most MIDC areas. Their directories are mostly for members.
  • MCA master data covers companies and LLPs one name at a time, through the Registrars of Companies in Mumbai and Pune. The state's many proprietorships and partnership firms are not in it.
  • GST and Udyam look-ups confirm that a business is registered and active. Every Maharashtra GSTIN starts with 27, a quick check for out-of-state branches in any list.

Our guide to MCA and GST look-ups explains each check, and no free source gives a sortable sheet of businesses with phone numbers by city and trade.

Our Maharashtra business directory and statewide lists

The Maharashtra Business Directory holds 13,98,528 businesses from across the state. 82% have a mobile number and 50% an email address. 93% name their city or town and 89% a PIN code, so you can cut the file down to one city or district. The list page shows 60 real rows and a free Excel sample, and as a state list it costs ₹499.

Maharashtra lists by industry

The Maharashtra page has all 143 statewide lists across 15 sectors. If you need a companies in Maharashtra list for one trade only, start with these, the largest for the state:

For people rather than firms, there are Maharashtra lists such as Purchase & Procurement Heads, IT & Networking Professionals and Company Secretaries.

Maharashtra cities with their own lists

To work one city in depth, open its page: Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Ahmednagar or Aurangabad.

Our city guides describe each one's estates and markets: companies in Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad and Nagpur. For single trades, see manufacturing companies in Pune and pharma companies in Mumbai.

Who buys a Maharashtra company list

  • Process equipment, valve, safety and effluent firms working the chemical belts of Taloja, TTC, Tarapur, Mahad and Roha.
  • Steel, tooling and job-work suppliers for the auto and engineering units of Chakan, Bhosari, Waluj, Satpur and Ambad.
  • Freight forwarders, customs brokers and warehousing firms around JNPA and Bhiwandi.
  • Software, fintech and business service sellers targeting head offices in Mumbai and Pune.
  • Cold storage, packaging and agri input firms serving the grape, onion, orange and sugar trades.
  • Brands and FMCG companies looking for distributors who can cover the state's district towns.

Working a Maharashtra list across the state

  1. Cut it by region first. Filter by city, then plan from a base: Mumbai or Thane for the MMR and the coast, Pune for western Maharashtra, Nashik for the north, Aurangabad for Marathwada, and Nagpur for Vidarbha.
  2. Find where decisions are made. Many companies buy centrally from a Mumbai or Pune office for plants elsewhere in the state, while owner-run units decide on the spot. Ask early who signs the order.
  3. Use Marathi where it helps. Marathi warms up owners across the state, Hindi works almost everywhere, Gujarati is common in Mumbai's trading markets, and head offices use English. For example: "Namaskar, this is Amit from a valve stockist in Taloja. We hold stock for chemical units in Taloja and TTC and deliver within a day. Who handles maintenance purchases at your plant?"
  4. Know the calendar. Ganeshotsav slows Mumbai and Pune for about ten days, much of the state pauses for Diwali, and Gudi Padwa is a favoured day for new purchases.
  5. Keep it lawful. Read our DND guide before promotional calls or SMS.

Questions people ask

Is there an MIDC company list with contact details?

MIDC publishes its industrial areas and plot allotments, but not a contact list of the units. To reach businesses in an MIDC area, filter a city or state list on the area and address columns, and confirm the unit's location on the first call.

Which Maharashtra city has the most businesses?

In our lists, Mumbai has the most contacts, followed by Pune and Nagpur. For a particular trade the answer changes: Taloja and Tarapur for chemicals, Chakan and Waluj for auto parts, Bhiwandi for warehousing.

How many companies are there in Maharashtra?

No single register counts every business, because MCA records only companies and LLPs while most firms are proprietorships or partnerships. Our Maharashtra directory alone holds 13,98,528 businesses, and it still misses many small shops.
